Hi, I’m Jose Villalobos, the founder of Espresso and Machines. Born and raised in Valparaíso, Chile, I started traveling through South America at 16, visiting coffee farms in Brazil, Peru, Colombia, and eventually across 20 countries throughout Latin America, Central America, the Caribbean, Hawaii, and California. I’ve been testing espresso machines since 2018 — starting with a cheap machine from eBay and working up to testing 150+ machines from beginner home setups to advanced prosumer models. I founded Espresso and Machines to cut through the marketing noise and give honest, data-driven recommendations based on real testing — not sponsored content.
At Espresso and Machines, every review is based on real hands-on testing. We test each machine with standardized shot parameters — 18-20 grams of coffee, 36-40 gram output, 25-30 second extraction — across at least 3 different bean origins over a minimum 30-day period. No sponsored content. No manufacturer talking points. Just honest recommendations from someone who has been obsessed with espresso since 2018.
