Breville BES870, What the Instruction Book States
The BES870 Barista Express instruction book states a Thermocoil heater, a 2L tank, a 250g hopper and a 54mm portafilter. It states no dimensions and no weight.
The BES870 is the model code for the Breville Barista Express, and its instruction book states a Thermocoil heating system, a 67 fl.oz (2L) water tank, an 8.8oz (250g) bean hopper and a 54mm portafilter.

Why the citation names a region and a revision
BES870 alone does not identify a document, because the same model has more than one manual.
Two revisions exist for the same market: BES870_USCM_IB_O22_LR.pdf and BES870_USCM_IB_V23_LR.pdf. A separate manual, BES875_ANZ_IB_F22_FA_LR.pdf, covers the same product line for Australia and New Zealand and states 1850 W rather than 1750 W. A wattage figure quoted without its region is wrong for one of the two markets.
What the manual does not state
The instruction book gives no dimensions, no weight, no part numbers and no service procedure.
Of five espresso manufacturers checked on 13 August 2026, Breville publishes no parts diagram and no service manual. Gaggia publishes both. What that means in practice is that the BES870 can be specified precisely and cannot be repaired from published documentation.
The manual does give a recommended tamping force of 22 to 33 lbs (10 to 15 kg), and notes that consistency matters more than the figure.
One revision that could not be read, and why that is not a gap in the documentation
The V23 revision of this manual resists text extraction: its numerals are typeset in a font subset whose character map returns letters where digits should be.
Extracted, its bean hopper line reads . oz ( g) where the O22 revision reads 8.8oz (250g). Applying the document’s own character map returns vsg rather than 250g. This is a property of how that file was typeset and not evidence that the V23 manual omits the figures. The O22 revision states them plainly and is the revision cited above.
