Philips product leaflets list AquaClean filter compatibility on every espresso model checked, and attach a footnote to the 5000 cups figure that bounds it.
AquaClean is the water filter system named in the technical specification block of every Philips espresso leaflet checked, listed under the field Filter compatibility.

The 5000 cups figure and the footnote that bounds it
The EP5447/90 leaflet states Up to 5000 cups*** without descaling thanks to AquaClean, and the asterisks lead to a qualification that changes what the number means.
The footnote reads, verbatim:
Based on 8 filter replacements as indicated by the machine. Actual cups depends on selected coffee varieties, rinsing and cleaning patterns.
The figure describes eight filters in sequence, not one. Quoted without its footnote it reads as the life of a single cartridge, which is not what the document says. Source: EP5447/90 leaflet, version 9.9.1, issue date 2023-08-16.
What is stated alongside it
The same block lists the accessories supplied with the machine, and an AquaClean filter is among them.
The EP5447/90 leaflet lists: Measuring scoop, Water hardness test strip, AquaClean filter, Grease tube, LatteGo. A water hardness test strip in the box is consistent with a filter system whose replacement interval the machine tracks.
What Philips does not publish about it
No part number for the filter appears in any Philips document examined, checked 13 August 2026.
The leaflets name the system. They do not identify the cartridge as an orderable component, and Philips publishes no parts diagram or parts list for its espresso machines at all. Of five manufacturers checked, only Gaggia publishes part numbers.
That absence has a consequence worth stating plainly: the documents establish that a machine takes AquaClean, and do not establish which cartridge or how to order one.
One source that could not be read
A Philips parts distributor exists at philips.encompass.com and could not be accessed, returning HTTP 403 behind a Cloudflare challenge to two separate automated requests on 13 August 2026.
Whether it publishes filter part numbers is therefore unestablished rather than answered.
